The Reverend Canon C. John Thompson-Quartey

Canon John is the Director of the Episcopal Anglican Studies Program at Candler School of Theology. Before assuming that position, he served on the staff of the bishop of Atlanta as Canon for Ministry Development and Congregational Vitality. Prior to arriving in Atlanta, he served as rector of St. Mary’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey for nine years. Before St. Mary’s, he was Chaplain for Pastoral Care and Director of the Community Outreach Program at St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire for six years.

Canon John holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University, New Jersey, and a Master of Divinity from the General Theological Seminary, New York. He is a man of prayer, and he is passionate about Adaptive Leadership and mobilizing others to tackle complex challenges. He is married to Jerlyn (Jeri), and they have three adult daughters. Canon John enjoys going on long walks with his wife and listening to jazz and classical music.
