The vestry of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is pleased to announce that The Reverend Richard Winston Arthur has accepted the call to serve as the church’s new rector. Fr. Winston brings a wealth of experience, a deep commitment to ministry, and a joyful enthusiasm for guiding our community in faith.

Fr. Winston has a distinguished academic background, with degrees in history and politics, as well as in law, from the University of the West Indies in Barbados, and a Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia, where he served as sacristan of Immanuel Chapel. Additionally, he has completed training with the College for Congregational Development, equipping him with specialized skills for congregational growth and community development.

Since April 2017, Fr. Winston has served as the rector of Saint Michael & All Angels in Stone Mountain, Georgia, and has worked extensively in mediation and conflict resolution — skills he brings to ministry to foster healing and unity within congregations. Prior to pursuing his call to Holy Orders, Fr. Winston practiced law as a commercial litigator and served as executive director of an international trust company in the British Virgin Islands.

Reflecting on his new call to St. Paul’s, Fr. Winston shares, “I am honored and excited to join the St. Paul’s family and to begin this new journey together. I look forward to growing with you in faith, engaging in vibrant worship, and building meaningful relationships within the parish and the wider community. Together, and with the guidance of the Spirit, I believe we can continue to live out our mission to share Christ’s love and serve one another in impactful ways.”

Please join us in welcoming Fr. Winston, his wife, Laura, and their children, Symone and Richie, as they make their home with us in Newnan. Their first Sunday with us will be January 5, 2025. We look forward to the many blessings they will bring to St. Paul’s and the work we will do together as we embrace this exciting new chapter in our ministry.
